On Thursday, January 18, Messer Chups come all the way from St. Petersburg Russia to mark their Atlanta debut appearance at the Star Bar. The group, centered around the creative nexus of guitar player Oleg “Gitaracula” Fomchenkov and bass player Svetlana “Zombierella” Nagaeva, conjure a sultry surf rock flow that’s steeped in equal parts cosmic radiation and classic monster movie ambiance.
Give a listen to their most recent full-length, Adventures of Zombierella and Guitaracula, out now via Missing Fink and Guiraracula Records.
Atlanta’s own surf-punk provocateurs El Capitan & The Reluctant Sadists get the party started. $15 (advance). $20 (at the door). 8 p.m. The Star Bar.

Bryan Malone, the long-standing Star Bar promoter, and guitar player with Atlanta rockers the Forty-Fives and Bad Spell, hosts a weekly live stream from his home in Pendleton Manor.
Malone takes on a new theme every week, ranging from Kinks and Ramones-heavy rock ‘n’ roll dance parties to root beer float appreciation nights.
Tune in via Facebook every Thursday night at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
